Paper research & initintial thinking
Online art purchases are on the rise, but finding the right piece isn’t always easy, especially for casual art enthusiasts. Many users lack the expertise or keywords needed to search effectively and prefer to rely on their visual preferences. However, current search systems heavily depend on technical terms and categories, making it difficult to explore art intuitively.
Problem
Casual Art Enthusiasts Often Struggle to Find What They Want Due to a Lack of Keywords
Current search systems depend on technical terms, making it difficult for users to find art that fits their preferences. This project aims to develop a system that allows users to visually and intuitively explore art, helping them discover pieces that align with their tastes and encounter new styles, even without prior expertise.
Solution 01
Tailor content based on visually selected paintings.
Help users discover artwork through intuitive painting selections, enabling them to explore and find pieces that match their preferences.

Solution 02
Image-based search
Enable users to discover artwork effortlessly, even without knowing its name, by simply scanning the piece in front of them with their device.

Major Challenges Faced by Casual Art Enthusiasts in Discovering Art
01
Lack of Knowledge About Specific Art Terms
Many people don’t know the specific terms to describe the art they want. They often use broad words and get lost when faced with technical or industry-specific language, making it hard to find what they’re looking for.
02
Challenges with Searching Art by Technical Categories
Users like to scroll and explore visually to find something they like. But when art is organized by technical categories, it doesn’t match their way of searching, making it harder to discover pieces they enjoy.
03
Difficulty in Finding Specific Styles or Themes
It’s hard for users to figure out specific styles or themes when they rely on general ideas or feelings to search. This can make the process frustrating and unproductive.
03
Lack of Intuitive Search for Art Preferences
Users want to find art based on what they like or feel, not by using complex terms or categories. Current search systems don’t fully support this intuitive way of exploring art.
